They were friends through their 5th year, but when she stuck up for Snape when James Potter hexed him, he said (this is a direct quote) " I don't need help from filthy little mudbloods like her!" unquote. She replied very cooly and started dating James in their 7th year. 3 years after they left school, they got married and settled in Godric's Hollow and Had a baby to be named Harry James Potter. A year later, they discovered Lord Voldemort, the most powerful Dark Wizard of the century was after them due to a prophecy. Their fidilius charm broke because their secret keeper betrayed them. James died in a battle and with honor. Voldemort moved on to Harry, but Lily would not move. Voldemort told her she needn't to die. She died for Harry's protection but Voldemort moved on to Harry anyway. But Voldemort could not kill him because of the protection Lily gave - love.

Arthur Weasley bio

Name: Arthur Weasley

Age: Unknown

House: Gryffindor

Special Abilities: None

Heritage: Pureblood

Family: Wife: Molly Weasley

Children: Bill Weasley, Charlie Weasley, Percy Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Ron Weasley and Ginny Weasley

First Mention: Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

Personality: He's very nice and easy going, and is the total opposite of Lucius Malfoy.

Arthur Weasley is the head of the Weasley household, and an officer at the Ministry of Magic. He's very nice, and is also poor. But unlike the Malfoys, Arthur cares more about his family than money. He's a Gryffindor at heart and is caring through and through.

He also has a slight fascination with muggles, to put it lightly. In Harry's second year, the car Harry and Ron used to get top Hogwarts was a muggle invention charmed with several spells. The car belonged to Arthur. and not even his wife Molly knew all the details about it.

Arthur does however, show a protective side when he gets in a fight with Lucius Malfoy.

He asks Harry to be careful of Sirius in The Prisoner of Azkaban, and we don't see much of him again until Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix.

Harry saves Arthur's life when he has a vision of The Department of Mysteries. We've by now learned the Arthur is a member of The Order of The Phoenix, and is a very strong and open supporter of Dumbledore.

Bellatrix Black Lestrange bio

Name: Bellatrix Black LeStrange

Age: Unknown

House: Slytherin

Special Abilities: None

Heritage: High society Pureblood

Family: Husband: Rudolphus LeStrange
Sisters: Andromeda Tonks, Narcissa Malfoy
Cousins: Sirius Black, Regulus Black

First Mention: Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire

Personality: Cold and Demanding, Very Condescending.
Bellatrix is first mentioned in the Fourth Book, where she is attending a trial in front of the Wizengenmont. She is described as flippant and loyal to Voldemort.

We don't learn much about her until The Order of The Phoenix, in where she is revealed to be Sirius' cousin. She is described as having long dark hair and heavily lidded eyes.

Bellatrix then escapes from Azkaban along with several other Death Eaters.

In the Department of Mysteries she works with Lucius and the others to try and get the prophecy. She then duels against Sirius.

She succeeds in not only stunning Sirius, but the stunning spell ends up pushing him through the veil, killing Sirius.

In the wake of Harry's shock and rage, he uses Crucio on Bellatrix. Voldemort shows up shortly there after, and it seems that she is indeed one of his Inner Circle Death Eaters.

Ginny Weasley bio

Name: Ginerva (Ginny) Molly Weasley

Age: 35 by the end of the 7th book

House: Gryffindor

Special Abilities: good kisser according to Harry and Dean Thomas

Heritage: Pureblood

Family: Molly Weasley (mother), Arthur Weasley (father). Brothers: Ron Weasley, Bill Weasley, Charlie Weasley, Percy Weasley, Fred Weasley and George Weasley.

First Mention: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Personality: Very sweet and innocent. Ginny is the youngest of the Weasley children and is the only girl. She is a Gryffindor like the rest of her family, and has a major crush on Harry in her first year.

In her first year, Ginny is possessed by a sixteen-year-old Voldemort, through the diary of 'T.M. Riddle'. She unknowingly sets loose the Basilisk and unintentionally lures Harry into Voldemort's trap.

She looses the diary at one point, and panics when she finds out that Harry has it. She goes through his dorm and steals it back.

After Harry saves her from Voldemort, she seems to have a more brotherly relationship with him.

She goes into more of a background character in books three and four, and returns as a major character in book five. Ginny insists on going with Harry Ron and Hermione to the department of mysteries in order to save Sirius.

She fights bravely in the department of mysteries, giving us a look at the now much older Ginny. She is still a bit of a wild card character

Dolores Jane Umbridge bio

Name: Dolores Umbridge

Age: Unknown

House: Unknown

Distinguishing Features: Short and fat. She uses an affected high-pitched girlish voice (presumably in a failed attempt to be endearing) and has a preference for wearing fluffy pink cardigans. Underneath the image, however, beats the heart of a vindictive and malevolent maniac.

Heritage: Unknown.

Family: Unknown.

First Mention: Chapter Eight of Order of the Phoenix.

General: Dolores Umbridge is the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge. Nothing is known about her early career, or how she achieved this position, but it seems safe to assume that it was via a concerted effort of ruthlessness and malice. The only thing that is known about her early life is that she attended Hogwarts, although her house is a mystery.

During the summer of 1995, Professor Dumbledore was finding it particularly hard to fill the supposedly-cursed Defence Against the Dark Arts job. Inexplicably failing to appoint Severus Snape to the position (and then have the much easier task of finding a Potions teacher) he chose instead to allow the Ministry of Magic to put forward their own candidate – Dolores Umbridge.

She provided the foothold at the school that the Ministry had always wanted, and quickly set about getting rather more than that. Initially she restricted herself to refusing to allow the pupils to actually practice Defence Against the Dark Arts (insisting on an entirely theory-based approach) and employing unpleasant punishment techniques to dissenters. Harry himself had long experience of her enchanted quill which gouges words in the back of the user’s hand.

Within a brief time, however, she had appointed herself High Inquisitor, passed a series of Educational Decrees (ratified by the Ministry) to cement her position of power, and finally removed Professor Dumbledore and taken over as the Head Teacher. To her cost, however, she was to find out that attaining power is rather easier than keeping it. Having made an enemy out of everyone (except perhaps Argus Filch) on the way, she found herself rather short of support and her appointment as Head was followed by an immediate and sustained outbreak of anarchy, which she singularly failed to deal with.

Her downfall was brought about by two events: following an attempt to cast the Cruciatus Curse on Harry she was subsequently tricked by Hermione into following her into the Forbidden Forest. Here she was attacked and taken away by centaurs.

Then, following the final battle at the Ministry of Magic, Dumbledore reclaimed his position as Headmaster (given back to him by Fudge), hence removing Umbridge from the post. Ironically, it was Dumbledore himself who rescued her from the centaurs and she was last seen scurrying away from the school looking rather sorry for herself.

James Potter bio

Name: James Potter

Age: 21 when he died

House: Gryffindor

Special Abilities: : Animagus, a stag to be exact.

Heritage: Unknown

Family: Wife- Lily Evans Potter
Son - Harry James Potter

First Mention: Sorcerer's Stone.

Personality: From what we see in Book 5, it seems that he was a lot like Sirius, charming, a prankster, and had a strong hatred of Snape. He was also very brave, as we see when he stands up to Voldemort. He was also probably really audacious and disregarding towards the rules,
according to Sirius in Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix.

James Potter is first mentioned at the beginning of The Sorcerer's Stone. Besides that, we don't learn much more about. That is until Harry goes to Hogwarts, and makes the Quidditch team. We then learn that James Potter was also very good at Quidditch, and is perhaps where Harry got his knack for the sport. At the end of Book 1, Harry gets a picture album with his parent's photos, and that's the last we hear about Harry's parents until about book 3.

In Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry learns a lot more about his parent's deaths. He gets to hear their last words in his head. We know that James and Sirius were best friends, as well as Remus. We learn a lot of what James must've been like by the fact that Remus tells Harry on some occasions how his dad would've felt.

The last bit of information we get on James is from the Fifth book. In Snape's pensieve, we see how James was at about Harry's age, and Harry is upset by it. James is walking with the rest of the Marauders, a snitch in his hand engraved with the letters 'LE'. He then proceeds to play several pranks on a young Severus Snape, how can't retaliate, and is only stopped when a livid Lily asks him to.

Besides that we don't know much about James.

Draco Malfoy bio

Name: Draco Malfoy

Age: 36 by the end of the 7th book

House: Slytherin

Special Abilities: : None

Heritage: High society Pureblood

Family: Mother: Narcissa Malfoy
Father: Lucius Malfoy
Aunts: Bellatrix LeStrange, and Andromeda Tonks
Related to Sirius Black

First Mention: Sorcerer's Stone

Personality: Very aristocratic and snobbish. Is proud to be a pureblood and a Malfoy. Is quite confident of himself (which seems to be a family trait). He holds his head high, and is fast to put others down. Especially if they are not of pureblooded descent, like himself.

Draco is in the same year as Harry, however he is in Slytherin House. He is Harry's rival from the very first book, and the son of one of Voldemort's most avid supporters.

At first Draco tries to befriend Harry, when they first meet. However, when Draco acts supercilious in front of Harry, Harry rejects the offered friendship. After this, Draco never again attempts to befriend Harry.

Draco taunts Harry, and his to best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. He insults them with such names as Scar head, Mud-blood, and Weasley, respectively. He especially enjoys calling Hermione a mud blood, since he so prides himself in being a pureblood.

Although he is confident, he definitely doesn't hold any Gryffindor courage. For example, in the first book, when he and Harry are serving detention in the dark forest, he runs as fast as his legs will carry him from the person drinking the unicorn blood.

Throughout the books, Malfoy seems to become even more like the anti thesis of Harry. He also becomes the Slytherin seeker. Unlike Harry though, he became a seeker because Lucius bought his way on the team. He became a seeker in his second year, Draco did.

Draco's taunts become more malevolent as the series continues, even egging on Harry against Sirius in book 3. Draco also gets very angry when Harry gets Lucius thrown into Azkaban.

Draco is considered by some to be a Junior Death Eater, but at this point, he could be on either side.

Lucius Malfoy bio

Name: Lucius Malfoy

Age: 41

House: Slytherin

Special Abilities: Any powers that Voldemort might have given him. Inner Circle. Death Eater.

Heritage: High society Pureblood

Family: Wife: Narcissa Malfoy
Children: Draco Malfoy
Sister in laws: Bellatrix LeStrange, and Andromeda Tonks.

First Mention: Sorcerer's Stone

Personality: Lucius is the epitome of a condescending pureblood. He's also a prime example of a Slytherin. He's cold, calculating, and self preserving to a fault.

At first, we see Lucius as merely Draco's father: Everything that we think Draco will be become. He's just the cookie cut Slytherin pureblood as far as we know it in the first books.

Harry has a dislike of Lucius, which is he finds out is indeed requited. Lucius' role takes on deeper meaning though, after he puts Tom Riddle's diary in Ginny's cauldron in the second book. As Harry begins to unravel the mystery behind Dobby and the Diary, Lucius is out trying to get Dumbledore taken out of his position as headmaster.

Harry then begins to hate Lucius the moment he got Hagrid shipped off to Azkaban prison. Well, that hate had been building up since Lucius insulted Arthur Weasley for being poor and a muggle lover. Harry finds out that all the Wealseys indeed hate the Malfoys, and vice versa.

After Harry defeats Tom Riddle and saves Ginny Weasley, he returns to Dumbledore's office. There he finds Lucius on his way out, and confronts him about putting the diary in Ginny's cauldron. Lucius tells him it's best not to snoop around, and never actually denies doing it.

Harry then finds out that Dobby, the eccentric little house elf that had been trying to 'help' him all along, belonged to none other than Malfoy himself. Harry then decides to out wit Lucius, and has him unknowingly give Dobby a sock. Dobby is then freed, and Harry is quite pleased with himself. Lucius on the other hand, is quite livid, and is stopped by Dobby from doing Harry any bodily harm.

By the end of book two, we know that Lucius is not the nicest person, and holds a vendetta against muggles, muggle borns, muggle blooded, and people with no vendetta against muggles.

However, our suspicions of him being a Death Eater really come into play in book 4, when Death Eaters attack the Quidditch Cup. Lucius was in all the right places, at the right time, to be a likely suspect for being a Death Eater. Our suspicions are verified at the end of the fourth book, when Voldemort returns to his body, and gathers all his inner circle Death Eaters to watch him kill Harry. We know for fact that Lucius was one of the people under the black robes.

Harry then reports that Lucius, among others, is indeed a death eater. However, no one seems to believe him, since Lucius was cleared of all accounts thirteen years before.

In the fifth book, Harry finds himself actually facing off with Lucius Malfoy in the Department of Mysteries. He gets away, but we now know, that Lucius won't think twice before killing Harry.

In the end of the fifth book, Harry finally get Lucius put in Azkaban. Chances are though, being one of Voldemort's most trusted servants, the he'll escape soon. So now we're left wondering what will come of Lucius?

Narcissa Black - Malfoy bio

Name: Narcissa Black Malfoy

Age: 30s

House: Slytherin

Special Abilities: None

Heritage: High society Pureblood

Family: Sisters: Bellatrix LeStrange and
Andromeda Tonks.
Children: Draco Malfoy
Husband: Lucius Malfoy
Cousin:Sirius Black

First Mention: Chamber of Secrets

Personality: Supercilious Aristocrat.

Childhood: Narcissa grew up in a high class, bigoted, pureblooded family. They were mostly Slytherins. She is very aristocratic and snobby. She's not however, as violent as her sister Bellatrix.
Narcissa isn't mentioned often in the books, and not at all in the movies. But we know that she's blonde with a small build and fits the role of Lucius' wife quite well.

We also know she didn't want Draco to go to Durmstrang because it was to far away. So we know she does care about Draco.

Besides that, she is very much a mystery.

Remus John Lupin bio

Name: Remus John Lupin [Moony]

Age: 35/36

House: Gryffindor

Special Abilities: He's a werewolf, though it comes into more of a curse than an ability.

Heritage: Half-Blood

Family: Unknown

First Mention: Book 3, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Personality: Remus seems to have been the more responsible of the Marauders when he was at school. As a teacher, he seems to be pretty laid back. Unlike Sirius or James, he seems to have also been a studious person, and more calm.

Remus comes to teach at Hogwarts during Harry's third year, in the book Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

In his school days, he was best friends with James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. He was one of the four Marauders. (And is believed by some to have been the creator of the Marauder's Map because his name is the first to appear in the message given to Snape.) He was also a prefect when he was at school, an attempt by some of the teachers to keep the other Marauders in line. Dumbledore knew Remus was a werewolf, and still let him attend Hogwarts. The Whomping Willow was actually planted as part of an escape rout for Remus. He would escape to the Shrieking Shack [In Hogsmeade] whenever the full moon came around.

James Sirius and Peter eventually found out about Remus being a werewolf, and made themselves animagi in order to accompany Lupin whenever the full moon was about. Lupin was very grateful that they did that for him, and is a very loyal friend.

The first time we see Lupin is on the Hogwarts Express. He is described as looking very tired and worn out, wearing shabby robes. He wards off the dementors that enter the cabin that he, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are staying in. Harry is a little dubious about Professor Lupin at first, when they're in the compartment. Like when Lupin offers Harry a piece of chocolate, Harry is a bit skeptical.

As Harry's third year progresses, Harry gets closer to Professor Lupin, and he quickly becomes Harry's favorite teacher.

When Harry gets the Marauder's map from Fred and George, Lupin helps him save it from the hands of Severus Snape.

When Lupin stops Harry from killing Sirius, Harry believes Remus is a traitor, as do Hermione and Ron. Hermione then reveals to Harry and Ron that Lupin is actually a werewolf. When the secret about Sirius being innocent is revealed, Lupin is more than ready to kill Peter Pettigrew; had it not been for Harry stopping them.

After they save Sirius, Lupin resigns from Hogwarts; due to the fact that Snape revealed to the Slytherins that Lupin was a werewolf. Harry Ron and Hermione, as well as most of Gryffindor House, are sad to see him leave.

In the fifth book, Lupin arrives at Privet Drive to save Harry from his relatives. He is also part of The Order of The Phoenix. Remus tends to keep Sirius in line when he loses his temper. Lupin stops Harry from going after Sirius when he falls behind the veil in book 5.

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore bio

Name: Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.

Age: Approximately 150.

House: Gryffindor.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Long silver hair and beard. Half-moon spectacles, behind which twinkle clear blue eyes. He is considered to be the greatest wizard of modern times. And he has a scar above his knee which is a perfect map of the London Underground.

Heritage: Unknown.

Family: One brother, Aberforth, who was once prosecuted for practicing inappropriate charms on a goat. Aberforth is the barman at the Hog’s Head in Hogsmeade.

First Mention: Chapter One of The Philosopher’s Stone.

General: Albus Dumbledore is a great wizard with an impressive list of achievements to his name. He defeated the Dark Wizard Grindlewald in 1945, he discovered the 12 uses of dragon’s blood, he is the Headmaster of Hogwarts School, and he was also invited to become the Minister of Magic (a post he declined). Also, contrary to some opinion, he worked with Nicolas Flamel to create the Philosopher’s Stone.

There can be no doubt at all Professor Dumbledore is a highly gifted, kind, gentle, insightful and wise man – factors which no doubt led to his appointment as Headmaster of Hogwarts. He record in this particular job is open to some question as he has presided over a number of unnecessarily dangerous times and fiascos at the school, although this hasn’t prevented many people rating him as the finest Headmaster Hogwarts has ever had.

He is also hugely powerful, and can fight a very good battle even at the age of 150. Dumbledore, back then a sprightly 100 years old, was the only teacher to suspect Tom Riddle of some wrongdoing when the Chamber of Secrets was originally opened in 1942. Riddle, of course, went on to become Lord Voldemort, but still lives in fear of the one man he could never deceive. And at the final battle in the Department of Mysteries, it was Dumbledore who drove Riddle away with a minimum of effort.

Professor Dumbledore was appointed to the Hogwarts staff as a teacher of Transfiguration, probably in the late 1800s. He was promoted to Headmaster around 1970, a role he has filled ever since. Also around this time, he was instrumental in the formation of the Order of the Phoenix, an organisation dedicated to fighting the rise of Voldemort. That organisation disbanded following the fall of the Dark Lord in 1980, but reconvened in the mid-1990s following his return.

Aside from all of these duties, Dumbledore still finds time to enjoy ten-pin bowling and chamber music, whilst also being the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot and the Chairman of the International Confederation of Wizards. He is a role-model for pupils at his school – a very effective communicator, he is able to gain the respect of staff and students alike. Despite his occasional mistakes as Headmaster, Hogwarts has prospered under his leadership.

Cedric Diggory bio

Name:Cedric Diggory.

Age:Died age 17.

House:Hufflepuff.

Distinguishing Characteristics:Tall, handsome, quiet and good at Quidditch.

Heritage:Unknown.

Family:His father, Amos Diggory, works for the Department For The Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.

First Mention:Chapter Nine of Prisoner of Azkaban.

General: Cedric was the living proof that everybody in Hufflepuff does not have to be a bit slow, a bit stupid, and a bit fat. Instead he was every inch the model hero – attractively tall, excessively handsome, excellent at sport, and always happy to help out lesser mortals when they needed it.

In 1993, Cedric became a prefect and was made Captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, for whom he played as Seeker. In 1994 he was selected as the Hogwarts school champion for the Triwizard Tournament, which is in effect a statement that he was the most able student (of the correct age) in the entire school. Had he lived he would no doubt have gone on to become Head Boy.

Cedric attended the 1994 Yule Ball with Cho Chang, after which she became his girlfriend until his death. During this time period, Cedric was also competing in the Triwizard Tournament, and it was his success in this event that ultimately led to his downfall.

The Third Task of the Tournament had the Champions finding their way round a maze littered with unpleasant surprises in search of the Triwizard Cup which was situated at its centre. Cedric and Harry won through at the same time and took the Cup together. It had been turned into a Portkey by Bartemius Crouch Jnr, however, and took them both to a graveyard where Lord Voldemort and Wormtail were waiting. Cedric was killed instantly on Voldemort’s orders by Wormtail, who cast the Avada Kedavra curse using Voldemort’s wand.

Cedric therefore became the first wizard victim of Lord Voldemort upon his return (although he had already killed the Muggle Frank Bryce). His death came as a great shock to his fellow Hogwarts pupils, and even Professor Dumbledore was moved to make poignant speech praising him at the end-of-term feast. Importantly, Cedric’s murder also marked the return to power of the Dark Lord.

Cho Chang bio

Name: Cho Chang.

Age: 37 by the end of the 7th book

House: Ravenclaw.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Cho is of Oriental descent, and also spends quite a lot of her time crying. She is a talented Seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.

Heritage: Unknown.

Family: Unknown.

First Mention: Chapter Thirteen of Prisoner of Azkaban.

General: Cho is a popular, pretty, outgoing girl who is in the year above Harry at Hogwarts. She also holds the distinguished honour of being Harry’s first love, although this particular relationship didn’t work out quite as well as either of them would have liked.

Cho became the Ravenclaw Seeker in her third or fourth year, and Harry first met her at the Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw match in 1994. He was at once struck by how pretty she was and from then on developed a crush on her. At this stage she also seemed to have a soft spot for Harry, although it is doubtful whether she regarded him with the same esteem that he held for her.

As a school champion for the Triwizard Tournament of 1994/95, Harry had to find a partner to attend the 1994 Yule Ball with. He wanted to ask Cho, but found it very difficult due to the fact she was always surrounded by her friends. He managed it in the end, but was disappointed to find out that she had already accepted an invitation from Cedric Diggory. Cho was upset to have to turn Harry down, demonstrating that she still had some feelings for him. Her date with Cedric went well, however, and she became his girlfriend. They remained a couple until his murder by Peter Pettigrew in June 1995.

This obviously hit Cho very hard, and she was still suffering from the grief of this loss on her return to school in September. Her troubled state of mind was not helped by her increasing feelings for Harry, and she quickly changed from being a popular, giggly girl into one who could be found more often than not crying in the toilets. She nevertheless joined Dumbledore’s Army when it was set up, and became an enthusiastic member, learning to master spells she had always struggled with before.
Harry’s opinion of Cho never changed, and by Christmas 1995 she had cast her guilt aside sufficiently to kiss him under the mistletoe (although she was, predictably, crying at the time). A disastrous Valentine’s Day date in Hogsmeade followed. The problems in the relationship were twofold: firstly, Cho could never overcome her jealously of Harry’s relationship with Hermione, and was convinced there was more to it than pure friendship. Secondly, Harry’s lack of experience with girls made him awkward and fumbling, and he singularly failed to reassure her.

Unsurprisingly, after a number of false starts the relationship fizzled out, ending on bad terms when Cho’s friend Marietta Edgecombe betrayed the DA. Cho’s unhappiness was turning more and more to anger by this time, and following a Quidditch defeat to Gryffindor, she threw her broom away before bursting into tears yet again. She has, however, found a new boyfriend in Michael Corner, although her feelings for Harry have not gone away despite their break-up. A reunion seems a little unlikely at the moment, though, given how everything worked out.

Mad - Eye Moody bio

Name: Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody

Age: In his 40's or 50's?

House: Most probably Gryffindor

Special Attributes: "Mad Eye" as he most popualarily known, has a magical eye which lets him see things the normal person's eye cannot. He can see someone even when they are sheilded by an invisibility cloak. He was also an auror for the Ministry of Magic, brought out of retirement by Dumbledore in book 4.

Heritage: Unknown

Family: Unknown

First Mention: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where he debuts as a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.

Personality: Mad Eye is a bit...er...mad. He is a very suspicious character, which is only fair considering his ordeal in book 4. Mad Eye was held captive for nine months by Barty Crouch, son of the Ministry Head of the Department of International Magical Co-operation, also named Barty Crouch. After his many years as an Auror, Mad Eye has, well...shall we say extreme tendencies. He will only drink out of a hip flask, and his impersonator's office in book 4 is full of magical Dark Detectors to warn him when evil or a untrustworthy person is near, giving us a clear insight into what the real Mad Eye's office would have been like.

Background: The story of Moody's connection with Harry is fairly complex, so for those of you who are not as familiar with it, here is an overview: At the beginning of book four (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) we learn that Dumbledore has appointed a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

Harry is going into what will be his fourth year at Hogwarts. During the course of the year, Harry partakes in a contest called the Tri Wizard Tournament. As you probably assume, there are only three Wizards in the contest. One from Hogwarts, one from the French wizarding school Beuxbatons and one from the German wizarding school Durmstrang. Alas no. Harry is the fourth to be chosen, the second competetor from Hogwarts and his name was entered illegally by someone, though at this point we do not know who did it. The conditions for the contest were that all of the Wizards who are to compete in the tournament have to be either of or over the legal wizarding age of 17 due to safety reasons. However after Harry's name has been chosen it is a binding clause and he must participate in the contest.

There are three tasks to be completed by the selected school "Champion's." The first two tasks pass fairly smoothly, Harry having been tipped off twice as to what the tasks were to be, so he would be prepared. The third task is a maze, filled with wizarding creatures and obstacles that the Champions must fight their way through to the middle of the maze. The first of the Champions to reach the middle, and grab hold of the Tri Wizard Cup, wins. Not so simple as both Harry and fellow Hogwarts pupil Cederic Diggory arrive in the middle of the maze at the same time. After a dispute as to who would take the cup and win, Harry suggests that they grab it at the same time and both win. However the cup has been bewitched and serves as a portkey, taking Harry and Cederic both into the hand's of Lord Voldermort.

After seeing Cederic murdered by Voldemort and narrowly escaping death himself, Harry uses the portkey to transport him back to the safety of Hogwarts. It is here that it is revealed that Mad Eye was not the REAL Mad Eye but an imposter by the name of Barty Crouch, who has been serving the wishes of Lord Voldemort all year. It was this impostor of Mad Eye (who has obtained the apperance of his victim through Polyjuice potion) who steered Harry through the Tournament, making sure he would be the winner and the first person to reach the cup.

The real Mad Eye was locked in a trunk of Barty's in his office all year.
